frequently asked questions

Are you a Fiduciary?

Yes. Our firm is structured as a Fiduciary, which means we are legally and ethically required to recommend only what is in your best interest.

How are you compensated?

We are a 'fee-only' firm, which means that we are compensated solely by our clients. We don't sell products or receive commissions.

How much does it cost?

We charge a percentage based on the investment assets we manage directly. Our annual minimum fee starts at $10,000, and it is paid in quarterly increments. For more information click here.

Where are you located?

We are located in Kirkland, WA and serve clients virtually. If you are in the area, we can always meet over coffee.

How can I contact you?

The best way to contact us is to click on 'Start the Conversation' button at the top of the page and schedule an Intro Call. You can also drop us an email at: hello@northpinewealth.com or leave a voicemail at 206-595-9029 and we'll get back to you shortly regarding the next steps.

What if I have another advisor, can I work with both of you?

While the idea of having multiple advisors might seem appealing, we have seen too many scenarios where coordination breaks down, miscommunication occurs, and things start to fall through the cracks. We prefer to be the only advisors for our clients. You can always schedule a call with us, and we can show you the value of working together. Also, total fees you pay tend to be higher as you do not benefit from breakpoints.

Where are my investments held?

Your investments will be held with one or both of our preferred custodians, Altruist or Schwab. We don't work for them, so we can make a pick based on your needs. We don't have a custody of your accounts, only you have full control.

Can I manage investments on my own?

We prefer to manage everything in house to ensure implementation and alignment with the whole picture. If you have an "itch" to invest or pick stocks on your own, we can set up a personal trading account where you can manage part of your portfolio. We do not oversee or charge personal trading accounts.

Is there a $ minimum to work with you?

Our service model is designed for individuals and families with at least (or quickly approaching) $1,000,000 in investable assets, not including 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), or 529 accounts.

Are there any strings in case I change my mind?

No strings. The breakup process is simple, just give us 15 days' notice so we can wind everything down. While we would love to work together for a long time, we understand that preferences can change. We go through a 3-step process to figure out if we are the right fit for each other ahead of time.
